MSOE volunteers begin the Friday Soup Run preparations from Tuesday by collecting donations from Tesco, Lidl, and Aldi who supplies us Bread, Biscuits, Soft Drinks, Chocolate Bars, Fruits etc. We also received the huge supply of sandwiches from Mark who works for Trim Educate Together school.
Our volunteers cooked a wide variety of hot food, Chicken Biryani, Lamb Biryani, Chicken Curry, Vegetables Pasta, Lamb Curry because people loved the hot food as they are not in a position to cook the hot meals at home. We also got the 4 pots of Chicken Biryani from one of Halal restaurant named, Darbar Restaurant.
A big thank you to our volunteer sister who brought the warm clothes, jackets and shoes for our needy service users. As usual the demand of sleeping bags was very high and we always make sure that we have enough supply of sleeping bags with us so we can’t say NO to anybody.
It was very windy and cold on Friday night but our volunteers started to arrive from 18:30 and MSOE soup run stated to serve the people at 18:45. It was very busy night for our volunteers as we have noticed an increase in the service users. We had a large amount of hot food as well as the different bakery items, like as donuts, pastries, apple tarts, cream rolls, muffins and cupcakes.
Lots of hot food dropped in to us a big shout of for Karen who every year holds a corporate event in her job and as always lots left over and she always remembers the work we do and drops by with a huge donation last night of much needed supplies. A heartful thank you. Everything was finished before 9pm,Alhamdulillah.
We are highly thankful to our donors, Lidl, Tesco, Aldi, Darbar Restaurant, Educate Together School, Food Cloud and a big thank you to our volunteers, without whom it wouldn’t be possible.
