My Hijab My Choice

I grew up in a Muslim family and always saw my mom wearing a hijab. When I was small I always wanted to wear the hijab, but I was too young. So, I waited for the day that I could wear the hijab just like my mom.
When I was 11 I started to wear the hijab and I was really happy. People remarked that I looked much older now. Once, when I was in Butler’s café a lady came over and asked me if my baby sister was my daughter.
When I was in secondary school the girls used to ask me funny questions like “Do you sleep with that on?” or “Do you shower with that on?” One even asked if I had any hair under my hijab.
I was asked several times if I was forced to wear the hijab or why I wore it. I answered proudly that it was my choice to wear the hijab and because God instructed me to wear it.
I noticed that some women didn’t wear the hijab or had stopped wearing it, but I just continue to wear it. They have the right to make thier choices while I have mine. And we will all face out Maker one day.
