World HIjab Day 2018

World HIjab Day 2018

February 1st, marks the annual World Hijab Day (WHD) in recognition of millions of Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab and live a life of modesty.

To mark this day, Muslim Sisters of Éire will be hosting a breakfast on 2nd February to celebrate the achievements of Muslim women and the steps we have taken to actively integrate. We will be highlighting the challenges that come from defying stereotypes and displaying our threads that have been woven into the very fabric of Irish society and that through integration, we can bind together, regardless of our faith and background, to make Dublin a richer and more diverse society .

We will offer breakfast along with a panel of speakers producing food for thought on this topic including:

Lorraine O’Connor
Ruth Coppinger TD
Ibrahim Halawa
Dr James Carr

World Hijab Day is about more than just hijab, it is about the empowerment of Muslim women and highlighting our role in society. We see this as an opportunity to extend our hand in friendship and to work towards integration and building of bridges between Muslims and Non- Muslims alike.
