At Muslim Girls of Éire, we've been proud to organise a variety of enriching and exciting events for the young girls in our community. These events are designed to foster personal growth, build friendships, and create meaningful memories while staying connected to our faith and values.
Here’s a list of some of our recent events:
MGOE Dublin – Youth Events, Identity Building & Retreat Programming
Games Night – Sunday, 16th November
MGOE Dublin kicked off its winter programming with a dynamic Games Night — an evening designed to break isolation and help girls aged 8–17 form friendships in a safe, halal environment. From team challenges to table games and laughter-filled competitions, the night embodied sisterhood and courage-building. Many girls arrived shy and left animated — a reminder that sometimes joy itself is a form of empowerment.
Kids Winter Staycation – 21 December – 4 January

Our Junior Winter Staycation was fully booked within just two days of opening registration. The programme began on Sunday, 21 December, with an exciting Movie Night held in the youth hub generously provided to us each week by Crosscare. With the windows darkened, comfy chairs arranged, and carpets and cushions spread across the floor, the space was transformed into a cosy cinema.
One of our youth volunteers kindly brought her own projector, adding to the excitement and making the experience even more memorable. As the session coincided with our weekly youth club, we welcomed an increased number of participants — both boys and girls — who enjoyed popcorn, treats, and a fantastic atmosphere. The children left smiling, already looking forward to the next adventure.
Our second activity brought 15 enthusiastic juniors ice skating at Dundrum On Ice. Some children glided confidently across the rink, demonstrating stops, turns, and spins, while others took a steadier approach by sticking to the edges or making use of the penguin supports.
Thanks to the encouragement from our youth volunteers and the Dundrum On Ice staff, every child found their comfort zone and had a brilliant time on the ice.
The programme continued with a winter trip to Dublin Zoo. Wrapped up warm and prepared with packed lunches, as well as prayer mats and scarves, the children spent the day exploring the zoo’s animals and playgrounds while ensuring they fulfilled their prayer obligations. With winter bringing prayer times closer together, the group paused twice during the visit to pray as a community — reinforcing the message that no matter where we go, we always make time to connect with our Creator. Five youth leaders accompanied the group, enjoying the children’s energy, favourite-animal debates, and laughter-filled conversations (including plenty of “dad jokes”).
We concluded the staycation with a lively afternoon at Jumpzone Sandyford. The children spent a full 90 minutes jumping, swinging, sliding and competing in dodgeball, gladiator-stylechallenges and obstacle zones — only pausing briefly for water breaks. It was the perfect high-energy finale before everyone returned to school the following Monday.
We extend our sincere thanks to all parents for trusting us with their children over the holidays, and to our dedicated MGOE volunteers whose commitment and enthusiasm make programmes like this possible.
We look forward to growing future staycations and offering even more exciting activities for boys and girls in the under-12 age group.
Winter Retreat – Games Night → Ice Skating → Qiyam
The highlight of MGOE Dublin’s winter activities was its Winter Retreat, thoughtfully designed for older girls and delivered across three beautifully sequenced experiences:
1) Games Night
The retreat opened with a lively Games Night, offering participants a chance to bond, laugh, and ease into the retreat. The activities allowed girls — including first-timers — to feel fully welcomed and included.
2) Ice Skating
The next day, the girls ventured out for ice skating, where joy, balance-building, and teamwork took centre stage. The shared nerves, slips, and victories helped girls support each other and deepen new friendships built the night before.
3) Qiyam
The retreat closed with a serene Qiyam gathering — a beautiful counterbalance to the energetic days prior. Together, girls prayed, reflected, read the Qur'an, and shared heartfelt reminders. Many described the Qiyam as their favourite moment — a space to rest their hearts and reconnect spiritually.
This Games → Skating → Qiyam rhythm captured MGOE’s core purpose: joyful activity, meaningful friendships, and anchoring identity firmly in faith.
Seeds of Imān: Summer Girls' Camp 2025
From August 2nd to 4th, a group of 21 girls aged 12 to 17, accompanied by four dedicated youth leaders, embarked on a memorable two-night adventure at Carlingford Adventure Centre. The group set off on time with a relaxing stop at Applegreen before continuing their journey.
Upon arrival, the girls settled into their rooms, enjoyed a scenic walk, and ended the evening with a cozy campfire and s’mores. The second day included laser tag, water sports, and a nightline challenge. Although some girls felt nervous about kayaking, they faced their fears and found it to be a favourite experience. The final day featured ziplining before the group headed home.
Prayers were observed throughout, and evenings ended with Islamic reminders and discussions. Girls had the chance to anonymously submit questions, which were answered thoughtfully on the last day—creating a safe space for exploring faith. Each girl received seeds to plant as a symbolic reminder of spiritual growth.
We were blessed to have support from Carlingford leaders Carla and Jocelyn (Joss), who led activities enthusiastically. The group returned on schedule, and feedback from girls and families was overwhelmingly positive.
Summer Project July 2025
During July, we ran a two-week summer project for children from migrant backgrounds.
Activities included zip lining, horse riding, Jumpzone trampoline park, swimming, and family parties.
This project brought joy not only to the children but also to their families, as the smiles and laughter were a true testament to the impact of these experiences.

Sisters Qiyam: A Night of Reflection & Connection
Date: March 15th, 2025
Our first-ever Sisters Qiyam event was a spiritually enriching night for women aged 18 and over. This intimate gathering included Qiyam prayers, thought-provoking discussions, and engaging activities such as henna artistry and journaling. The event provided a space for women from various ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds to come together in a spirit of shared faith and community. It was a night of reflection, connection, and growth, and we were thrilled by the positive response from attendees, who embraced the opportunity to connect on a deeper level.
Muslim Girls of Éire: Lane 7 Bowling Social
Date: April 22nd, 2025
Our Muslim Girls of Éire youth group hit the lanes for an unforgettable day at Lane 7 — and it was nothing short of amazing! The trip was part of our ongoing initiative to create safe, inclusive spaces where young Muslim girls can bond, have fun, and build lasting friendships.
From strikes to spares (and even a few gutter balls!), the bowling alley buzzed with laughter and sisterhood. Alongside the games, the girls enjoyed arcade challenges, team activities, and delicious food — all set in the vibrant, youth-friendly atmosphere of Lane 7.
More than just a social outing, this event was a chance for the girls to unwind, support each other, and enjoy positive time together outside of school and daily responsibilities. It fostered confidence, belonging, and joy — the very heart of what Muslim Girls of Éire is all about.
